I liked Green Acres.

I'm too young to remember Dick Van Dyke in its orig run, bvut I've loved its repeats. Stole a word from it. A teen has a crush on Laura Petrie and he calls it "fruitile"...I love that...a mix of fruitless and futile. So I have to give Dick Van Dyke's show props for a "word" that made it into my lexicon, long before Sarah Palin's refutiate. TeeHee.

Dick Van Dyke's writers were geniuses. Sarah Palin is just a moron.

GREEN ACRES....I was never too keen on anything that resembled hillbilly sort of life. I thought Oliver and Lisa were wack jobs. It was a comedy but I must have been too young or too over reactive (surprise!) to appreciate the comic value. On the same line, I never cared for The Beverly Hillbillies, Hee Haw, Uncle Joe & Mr. Drucker on Petticoat Junction, though I loved the story line with the gilrs Billie Jo, Bobbi Jo and Betty Jo. I did, however, think it was odd that a woman could be so attached/enamored of her brother-in-law that she named all 3 girls after him.

Aything that aired in the fifties or sixties I only got to watch in reruns. I liked the Monkess, Bewitched and Leave it to Beaver was endearing.

Odd thing about The Monkees...That show and the singing group were so very popular when I was in 8th grade. Then years -n- years later it was waaay popular when my sons were in 5th or 6th grade. What goes around, comes around!

Did you know that Mike Nesbitt's (in the wool ski hat) mother invented White Out?

What did you think of the characters?
I thought Rob and Laura were a sweet couple. I wonder in real life is Sally would ever marry. Buddy and his slapstick didn't do much for me. Alan Brady (and Carl Reiner) was not the comedic genius they sadid he was. And why couldn't they get a cuter kid than Ritchie (how they spelled it) Rosebud. Do you remember why his middle name was Rosebud? Would you like the Helpers (Jerry & Millie) as neighbors?

I think that's how we're meant to think about Alan; the writers are the real talent, slaving away anonymously while he is the public face.

Buddy is an acquired taste, but my, do I know a few Buddys in real life!

I love the episode where we discover the truth about Rosebud! :)
