Buffy season 6 and Angel season 3: Father Figures or Lack Thereof

Jun 25, 2007 21:59

I'm now done with both Buffy season 6 and Angel season 3, so my timelines line up again. And I bet Angel would have been especially despondent, ( right into spoilers )

I was a founding member of the now defunct community dieconnordie

I think that says all that needs to be said about the emo teen.

I would have been proud to be a member of that community. Kudos on being its founding member!

Well, one of the founder members. At its height it had a good twenty or so members, which wasn't bad considering we were all Bronzers

You guys and your hatin' are putting me in a bad mood. I've only seen Connor in three episodes so far; I don't know the whole picture yet; I fully expect Joss to surprise me in all kinds of ways; and all I've said is that it seems like an interesting development so far, and the actor is good-looking. But I get reluctant to share my initial thoughts when all you vets answer with "Eck, hate, bleh!"

Do I have to turn this car around?

I assume that means Angel *does* hear about it, at least. I expect so. Wouldn't be like Joss to pass up such a juicy reaction and ensuing conversation.

Ugh! I hated Connor with a passion that knew no bounds. I can think of only one or two instances in which I did not wish for his immediate death of the most painful kind. Not that I'm bitter or anything.

And yes, Groo was amusing, though I was not amused that he thwarted an Angel/Cordy romance. True, happily-ever-after seems to never be in the cards for Angel, but one can hope. I always did. Having come late to the Buffyverse, I was always an Angel/Cordy shipper. She matured so much on that show, her character evolving more than any other in the Buffyverse. She became one of my favorites by the end, second only to Spike.

I definitely like Cordy now, when I didn't for most of the first couple seasons of Buffy. And I meant to add that the Angel/Cordy stuff in "Waiting in the Wings" was quite hot.

As for the Connor hate...see my answer to shebit, above. I don't pay attention the fandom, and try not to get spoiled on future seasons, so it isn't nice to slam me with the accumulated hate of a character I've only just met. Harrumph. You guys are making me not want to post.

Will he spend the first half of season 7 shivering in the fetal position, paralyzed with horror at the murders he's committed over the decades, like Angel did for a while? Or what exactly?

Heee...Spike's reaction is a little...different from Angel's. Heh. Early Season 5 of Angel gives us a very cranky comment from Angel about the whole thing that had me giggling for days.

Connor: my sister hates him. I don't mind him although I don't think he gets smacked enough. There should definitely be more smacking. He is very cute, though, so he can stay. My sister-in-law could never remember his name and so spent the entire fourth season saying things like "Baby Angel needs a haircut" and "Why are they letting Baby Angel do that?"

I so look forward to Spike showing up on Angel. :D Just watched the first episode of Buffy season 7, and the poor boy is still out of his mind, as evidenced by how he's letting his bleach job go dark at the roots. (Which actually looks even hotter than usual, damn it.)

Characters needing smacking--ah well, that's OK. Who doesn't, in Jossverse? That's what makes them so touchingly real.

I'm likelier to be calling him "Daniel Radcliffe" than "Baby Angel," but "Baby Angel" is pretty amusing...

Yeah, so far I've yet to run into a Joss character that I don't want to smack every once in a while. Actually, that's not true. I don't think Zoe from Firefly ever made me want to smack her. But yeah, besides her. As you say, that's why we love them, and why they seem real.
