Here here (or should that be 'hear hear'?) on all counts.
As someone who's never written anything stronger than a kiss, I definitely refute the 'it's all about sex' complaint. And come to think of it, that was actually in my (one and only) RPS, so I've never actually written any physical contact between LotR characters, only emotional bonds.
And yes, I don't use original characters, but I'm very fond of those Tolkien created and hope that everything I write is true to their characters as Tolkien wrote them, I simply build on the established emotional bonds.
Plus, Orli and Viggo are hot. And Sean's pretty tasty too. Bean, not Astin.
And the new journal is a great idea, by the way, but I'm also still going to read your everyday journal, if that's ok - the linguistics stuff I find particularly interesting.
Hey, I think Astin's rather tasty too. In a cuddly sort of way, not like Sexeh Bean. :)
You're quite welcome to read both journals, of course! I was just letting the die-hard LOTR folks off the hook if they wanted nothing more from me than that.
No, I never saw the appeal of Astin. Wood has the 'someone poured the sea into my head' eyes, Billy has the accent (I'm a sucker for a Scot) and Dom is just amusing (everytime I see an interview with him he grows on me a little more. Like a lichen. Or possibly mould). What does Astin have? Puppy fat and an attempt at a West Country accent.

Was that too harsh?
Mmm, Bean.
