I was sleazy, and downloaded it in November.

I swear I shall purchase it legally at some point! It's really very good, probably one of my favourite, uh ... movies. The setting is beautiful, I loved the score, and I really enjoyed Ruth Wilson's performance as Jane.

I will always love the Timothy Dalton version. He has the ability to play suppressed rage like no one else, and while the production values aren't great, the performances make up for that. I've watched a little of the Toby Stephen's version on YouTube via your link...hot!

I watched the entire thing on PBS, and thought it was absolutely wonderful. And yes, Rochester is neither a pretty-boy, nor is he a particularly nice one.

I should also note that I despised the school sequence, because it really didn't have the same feel, the same theme, that the book's school sequence had. But for an adaptation, it worked just fine.

I saw it on PBS, and it was quite good. The Timothy Dalton version still owns my heart, but this was a great adaption. I first read the book when I was seven, and blame it for my rather dark outlook on life [g]

I suppose one of the original Gothic novels can do that to you. Still, happy ending! :)
