Misleading movie previews, and other authors doing LOTR

What happens when you edit movie clips in a misleading fashion, and add appropriate music? Well, you get:

Star Wars: Episode III as an, uh, "alternative lifestyle" romance (the Cher song really makes it work, I think),

West Side Story as a horror/thriller,

And The Shining as a warm-hearted family film ( Read more... )

parody by others, lord of the rings, movies misc, perviness

Small world!
I actually have a couple of Bulwer-Lytton books, but have not yet gotten up the nerve to read them.

I hadn't seen the Star Wars one before (or the Psycho one you can find when you follow that link). But hands down, the Shining trailer is by far the best one. Never has something so scary made me feel so warm and fuzzy inside. I'd go see it!

Indeed - if you didn't know, that trailer would seem completely innocent. But since we do know, it still creeps me out to see the kid approaching the closed door, or writing "REDRUM" on the wall. Even with the happy Peter Gabriel song. :)

Mmmmmm... red rum...

Really, it's Solsbury Hill that does it for me. I have loved that song since forever, but lately it seems like every other movie's trailer has it blasting.

That one was great. "Say, chap, remember when we threw that old ROP into the volcano?..."

Movie!Eomer had lovely red armour, and yet managed to survive.

Eowyn in her red dress did too. Guess the redshirt rule doesn't entirely apply on Middle Earth.

And Arwen in her burgundy - though didn't she almost die in that? Good old Arwen, trying to uphold the tradition of the red shirt.

Thanks for the links! I'm glad to find that LotR site again - I loved the Hobbits in the 100-acre wood. :D

Aye, those were fun. Made me want to write another one, but I could hardly think of any recognizable author they hadn't already covered.
