Just a note for a subgroup of the LOTR fandom...

Those of you who were following Bill the Pony's epic hobbitslash fic "The Making of Samwise," or for anyone who has been interested in following it, be aware that a) it is finished! this is a complete shot in the dark, since this was written fifteen (!) years ago, but I'm desperately looking for this story! It used to be on AO3 but was taken down for whatever reason. By chance do you have this story downloaded? I read it twice a long time ago, and it was such a magical story that it has stayed with me all these years in a way few other fanficiton stories ever have.

Wow. So, I'm not the only one looking for this fic. The whole archive disappeared years ago and it came to me as a shock to realise all those saved bookmarks were worthless. I'm sure there are people out there who had saved a lot of stuff from WOTM, but I have no clue how to find them. This fic was one of the best i have ever read and i have read a lot. I still think of it, when i reread the books. I wish i couldread it again one day...periodically i click on those worthless bookmarks hoping suddenly they would start working again. Sad, really.

Okay, I'm about to change your life... lol. Someone else showed me how to do this and I've been able to find almost all the old stories I used to love. If you can get the url for the story you want you can put it in the Wayback machine https://archive.org/web/ and find it that way. It takes a screen shot of things on the internet, so you can go back to like 2008 or whenever it last took a screen grab and see the website from that day. I was able to find the Making of Samwise that way. If you need help just let me know. That story is well worth the effort of tracking it down!
