Taking inspiration from arwen_elvenfair, I made a handful of LOTR icons with MST3k quotes on them. Slash-free! Some regular sexual innuendo here and there, but nothing worse than PG13.
Basically, it's a tv show in which two robots and a human watch really, really painfully dreadful movies, and spend the whole time mocking them in voice-over. It's like heckling a movie with really smart friends. It's hilarious.
MST3K has, to a certain extent, become a generic term for making bad movies, fanfic, etc. bearable (and, ideally, hilarious) by inserting mocking banter. If someone talks about watching MST3K, they mean the actual show or the videotapes of it, but people also give the MST3K treatment to things themselves.
Anonymous, dude, there's a big difference between 'uninformed' and stupid. I know what MST3K is but haven't seen any episodes, so I can't recognise the lines. Maybe be a little more tolerant of other people having had a range of experience different from your own? Not everyone on the Internet lives in American and gets cable. And I love Legolas' sensor-hair. Personally I believe that to be true.
Hey, I really appreciate that someone stood up for me. I didn't quite understand why someone had to be so rude just because I've never seen an episode of MST3k. At least there are some tolerant people in the world :)

Mystery Science Theatre 3000's official site and MST3K at the IMDB
I've been a MSTie for years and it'd take more than a little LJ box to explain it away....
