I'd try to be there,
but I'm concerned that once I leave the US,
Homeland Security might not let me back in...

Your English would be understood here. In fact, most people wouldn't be giving ouy to you if used Americanisms. And if in doubt, you could keep a dictionary in the press. I amn't lying.
