As best as I can tell, it seems to be an opinion post on someone or other's "top ten blogs", and the poster reckons that the SZ (who- or whatever that is) is about as competent at rating blogs as the poster is at knitting.

My German is pretty rusty, though, so you might want to stand by for an actual native German speaker.

Thanks! I didn't know you spoke German. I think I've three native German speakers on my friendslist, plus a couple of fluent non-natives.

Five years in school, four years in college (my degree is in European Studies specialised in languages - French and German).

I was fluent in German when I left college, but that was 16 years ago and I've hardly used it since, so as I say, it's very rusty.

If you have time & interest in practising, do you know about the language exchange in the ILAC library? It'd be from 6-8pm. I don't know what day German is. It might be Wednesday or Thursday.

It is a discussion of knitting blogs... will_sample March 23 2008, 17:06:53 UTC
...particularly, how some are humorous; the picture doesn't seem to be referenced at all.

..correction, it reeferences a knitting blog among the funniest/best of blogs.

it's basically just a scathing review of an article in the Süddeutsche Zeitung regarding Blogs. The author compares the SZ's expertise in blogging with her/his own in knitting. That's about it as far as knitting references go.

At least there is one! I don't speak German, so can only understand bits that happen to be the same as English. What's knitting in German? Stricken?

It's so much easier to work out what something says when you already know :-)

Hi mollydot,

my name is Chris an I used your photo on fixmbr.de. The article is about a german newspaper. The SZ (sueddeutsche.de) has written a lot of articles about the german blogosphere. The articles were so badly, so corrupt, they don't have any idea what a blog really is. And so, with this photo I wanna say them, that they better could knitting as writing.

Sorry for my english - best wishes from Germany,

Chris

Yes, the referrer logs. We're using a statistic tool for wordpress. When I take a look into the admin panel, the last 50 referres were shown. Today I find there a lot of livejournal-links. :-)
