Isn't the idea of a playdate that you take the other kid for one "date" but then it's your turn to let the other mom take your kid?

Or isn't that the way it works?

Well, with little ones, you don't leave your kid -- in theory, the parents hang out and chat while the kids are playing.

Except that little ones aren't super good at playing together, and the BG is perhaps a little less comfortable than most with my attention being engaged elsewhere, so what happens is I wind up addressing alternate sentences to the BG and then to the other adult.

And that way lies madness.
