So, I haven't posted anything in months, but I'm just going to jump in and do my annual pop culture meme, because trying to talk about anything else is too much. I wish all of you reading this health and happiness in 2020.

Which TV shows did you let go of in 2018? Most of the shows I let go of I let go because they ended - Elementary (which ended ( Read more... )

I’m actually the complete opposite in that it’s a lot easier for me to catch up with shows from streaming services, so much so that I’ve become really lazy about d/l shows that aren’t going to be legally airing in my country. Stumptown, Prodigal Son, Nancy Drew, and Roswell New Mexico are all shows that I’ve been interested in checking out, but the convenience and ease of streaming has made it feel like such an effort now to d/l each episode individually and convert it every week. I can’t be doing with all that fathing about these days, I want to just be able to open Netflix and hit play :pouts: So nearly all of my current shows are from streaming services at the moment, I’ve just started watching Dickinson as I get a years free trial with Apple, and so far I’m finding it really funny and charming ( ... )

I am definitely a spoiled American, because the shows you listed are all on network TV, so for me, watching them is even easier than streaming! I forget sometimes that in other parts of the world, people really have to make an effort to watch some of these shows.

you could always tell that he wasn’t particularly interested in keeping Veronica and Logan together, but the ending has caused so much lingering bitterness and bad feeling that the whole fandom seems tainted now.I have such mixed feelings about all of it, because I agree, Rob was never interested in that relationship, and seemed kind of frustrated by how much people loved it, but if it weren't for the passion of the 'shippers, it's unlikely that the movie would have been made, and without the movie would the Hulu revival exist? I don't like the idea of series creators bending to the will of the fandom every time, but by creating a ( ... )

Streaming definitely makes a big difference for international viewers I think, it’s just frustrating that more networks haven’t got onboard yet with making their shows more easily available worldwide, the CW actually seems to be going backwards even when it comes to making their new shows available on Netflix for the U.K.. And I’d probably pay for an exclusive CW app even if that’s what they want to do, but instead they just don’t make shows like Roswell New Mexico available in my country at all these days,

It’s very telling that it’s usually shows by Netflix that become the most talked about these days when it’s easier for everyone to watch at the same time worldwide

And the way that Logan’s death was handled was definitely strange all around when they knew how beloved that character was, Rob Thomas’s foot in mouth interviews afterwards didn’t exactly help either...

Nice to "see" you again. I haven't posted much this year and also don't have streaming tv so it is very hard to keep up. Fannishness seems to be passing me by at the moment but I'm not sure I mind too much, so not wanting to go back to feeling that way all the time about Buffy makes perfect sense to me.

Happy New Year to you too :)

There is too much TV to keep up with!! I do miss a lot about fandom, but it's all so fractured now that I think it's a different experience than what we used to have on LJ (yes, I'm aware I sound like a fandom dinosaur).
It's always good to "see" you, too, Kathy! I hope 2020 is good to you.

Hey there, happy new year! I know exactly what you mean about fandom and maybe not wanting to go back to feeling that way all the time. Except sometimes I do. ;-) Ah, the good old days. Where is my fandom dinosaur icon when I need it?

Cindy!!! Happy New Year! I was just thinking about you a few days ago, probably when I posted this, and hoping you were doing well, so I'm really glad to see you!

Except sometimes I do. ;-)

Me tooooooo. I try to be all cool about it, but I do miss being invested in something, and having a whole community to be a part of who are just as invested as I am.
