Okay, not exactly an original topic, but who cares?

So, the marathon on SyFy UK of the 20 best episodes of Buffy as voted on by the fans aired this weekend. ( Right this way for the Top 20! )

I actually don't care. It is not the list I would make, but I don't feel bad about random people choices, based on the popularity vote. I mean, people probably meant totally different things when voted. For me, "best episodes", "my favorite episodes" and "episodes I want to watch any time" are completely different lists. For example, Body is one of the best episodes, but I neither love it, nor want to watch very often. On the other hand, Beer Bad or Potential, I can watch almost any time.

Heee, I can't say that I care exactly, but at least it's a conversation starter!

I totally agree. I know, for example, that Life Serial is never going to make these "best of" lists, but it's one of my most-watched because I find it so delightful.

I can understand how everything got on this list (except for Normal Again - that one was a surprise), but what's kind of off-putting is how serious it is and that the big dramatic episodes are favored so much more heavily over comedy. aka Something Blue is not here, HOW DARE YOU VOTERS. I assume they are saving it for the special 24-hour marathon block where all they play are the Buffy/Spike episodes and no one leaves their house ever again. I would also take off Lovers Walk, Halloween, and Graduation Day and replace them with Band Candy, Who Are You, and Intervention.

Honestly if I were replacing Grave with something else from S6, my head says Dead Things but my heart says Life Serial, because it never stops being the most wonderful and rewatchable thing and for once I want to see it make a top 20 somewhere.

Agreed. The funny episodes don't get as much respect as the ~dramatic~ ones do, even though lots of writers seem to agree that comedy is harder!

This would be a dream come true! Why can't it be reality??

They're both in my top 20. I think Dead Things is a brilliant hour of TV, but it's true that when it comes to which episodes I rewatch the most, Life Serial is near the top of the list.
