I practiced the piano for 90 minutes on the cold community center stage.... I was wearing my coat, hat, and scarf (what a coincidence I am still wearing them because my apartment is so cold).  Eventually two of my junior high girls (Kahori and I don't remember the other one's name) came in and said hi and said I was really good and they were ( Read more... )

Hi there, just stumbled across your journal from the comm learning_japanese and I thought it would be polite to say hello before I start stalking your journal ;-)

It is really impressive that you can play for hours without sheet music! Must be a matter of practice? I could do it with my guitar, but only chords and only when I practiced much, and the last year, I did not play much :<

Can I ask, why is your appartment so cold that you have to wear your coat?!

Please do not mind that I add your journal in order not to miss entries? Feel free to add me back for the nonsense of my life (mostly in English, but sometimes German, not to be rude, but to express things better ^^)

I used to take piano lessons a long time ago and I have always been good at memorizing songs. Even though I have not seen the music in years I can remember how to play certain songs. I don't practice very often anymore but I try to when I can because I don't want to forget how to play. Even once a week is a lot for me these days... I am going to try to start practicing a couple times a week this year so I can get better.

My apartment is cold because there is no central heating. I have to use a kerosene heater, yuck!

It's ok if you have some German entries. I actually have a few German friends. I am interested in the language but I don't know anything.

Let's be friends :)

Yeah, I've been trying to figure out "Lacie" too. It's actually pretty easy melody-wise. I wonder if sheet music exists for it. Shimamura Music would be the place to check. Man, I miss that store.

...and reading this makes me want to play piano, but MY PARENTS SOLD IT when I left!! T^T

But Scot, I don't want the music. I want to learn it by ear. And that is sad about your piano. I guess it's time to get another Casio Privia ;)

Oh, but then all of the girls would flock to me, and this house really isn't all that big. Plus, it's really icy on our driveway and steps, so one would probably slip, and then there'd be a lawsuit, and all that jazz. ;)

Judge: and why was the defendant trying to get into Scot's house?
Defending Attorney: Your Honor, I would like to submit that Scot was playing a Casio Privia.
Judge: I see...

So are you going to learn Oz's Pocketwatch version, or Elliot's piano version?

Well, I was going more for the pocket watch version, but I was ad-libbing.
