I have lost my voice...... at best, it sounds like someone raking leaves over a chalkboard.  I'm not sure how that will work out with work.... maybe I should just take the day off?  Or maybe I should just go to work and once they hear my voice they will send me home?  They have sent me home before if they know I really should have stayed home.  I

Well, since I'm not actually at work, you can probably come over whenever you want today. Let me know whenever you set out. I might take a nap before you come, I'm not really sure... I'm not too miserable, I just feel like I should probably not be pushing myself by working. My voice has come back a lot since I woke up but it still sounds weird.

I lost my voice a few times last winter. It seems to be normal when you have a cold here in Japan.
I don't get any paid sick leaves which is why I haven't missed a single day of work so far.
When I couldn't speak and they still made me teach classes I just tought without saying a single word XDDD
The kids thought it was kind of a game and they enjoyed it. Classes were fine and the next day my voice was better again.

Just try not to use your voice and drink hot drinks, milk with honey etc :)

Yes, I am VERY happy I have sick days that are separate from vacation days!!

Well, in my country and I guess everywhere in the Western world paid sick leaves for a proper full-time job are NORMAL. That's Japan for ya, I guess x_X
