That scene from Life Aquatic is pretty great, but I love the closing scene.

In the movie "Some Kind of Wonderful," when Watts gets to kiss the main character, who she's had a crush on the entire movie.
Pretty in Pink, when Duckie sings "Try a Little Tenderness" to Andie.
The scene in Summer School where the aspiring horror-film-makeup-buffs stage a "class room massacre" for their new substitute teacher.
These three are just the first that came to mind. And they're all 80s movies. Hmm.
