Both my sisters are in town because this afternoon we are attending a 90th birthday party for an old family friend. Cathy arrived Thursday evening, so I picked her up at the airport on my way home from work. She had a gorgeous day to walk around the neighborhood on Friday (mid-60s!) and took full advantage of it. The only place she could rent a car was at the airport, so she had to get a cab out there, and they managed to send her a cab driver who didn't know how to get to the airport! I didn't know such people existed. I mean, that's a cabbie's bread-and-butter, right?

If someone jumps in beside me and names a destination anywhere near the airport or passing close, I seriously have to watch myself lest the cab automatically drive itself to the airport drop-off point while my mind is elsewhere.

Yup. Airport runs are basic business for cabs. Random street hails about four or five o'clock have a high likelihood of being businessfolk going to the airport, and once you are there, might as well get a fare back, because there's every chance it will be a good one.

Every cabbie knows where the airport is, where the red-light district is, where the city centre is etc.

I could actually cry, looking at the Homemade Pizza website! When I moved I removed myself from the delivery route of the only place here which does something a little different, and even then, not nearly so imaginative as these. And because it's late and I am trying to lose weight now I am positively starving!
