Studs Terkel has died.

He was 96 years old, had the fullest life of anyone I know, and I'm sitting here bawling like a baby. I guess it's at least in part because I grew up listening to his interviews on WFMT, and the station has never seemed the same since he left it. Thank you for introducing me to such an interesting man. His passing has made an impact throughout the journalism world from what we've picked up once your entry sparked our interest in Studs.
No wonder you are shedding tears.

and now we're selling out of Studs Terkel books at work.

Just as a few weeks ago, we sold out of David Foster Wallace.

I always find it interesting that people have had the author's entire carreer to read his work, but they never but anything until the obituaries go up.
