a.k.a. so much to post about, far too little time . . .

The Continuing Death of Journalism and Its Contribution to the Continuing Death of the World -- In the obviously huge news that I hope most of you have already heard, the effects of global warming on ice sheets continue to happen at a much faster rate than predicted. Like, the things we ( Read more... )

Cheery thought for the day . . . mojave_wolf March 28 2008, 16:58:08 UTC
I think the same thing a *lot* (then have the complicating thoughts of all the animals that depend on us, & wonder how the various dams and power plants that we maintain, etc, would do). But then there are the scenarios where we wind up w/an atmosphere like Venus; then everything above the level of bacteria (and maybe them; can't recall) goes bye bye. Hopefully this won't happen.

And you're so right about people just closing their eyes/ears; or seeing the problem but hoping tiny little measures will fix it, or waiting till a magical innovation appears unfunded from clean air to save us.

That is why I worry the problem will never get solved in time.

Thus the title of these posts.

But enough depressing stuff. Have a great weekend! =)

Corporations don't care about the long-term, they don't care about human beings, they don't care about truth, beauty, or any of that. They exist to make money.

When corporations own the newspapers, the newspapers exist only to make money.

People spend the most money when they are told they are safe overall but that they need to worry about little things. Little things they can solve with MONEY.

Don't worry about global warming. Worry about germs on your kitchen counter . . and hey we have some gunk right here that will KILL those germs.

This is all really nuts; mostly because so many people are utterly okay with it.

You sum this up so well, almost all I can say in response is "Amen."

Except to add that the really horrid thing is this idiot legal fiction where coporations have all the rights of humans. Some of the problems w/which you elucidate quite well.
