Just realized from reading a friend's blog that all the A Song of Ice and Fire fans on my f-list might not know there is a two hour pilot being cast for A Game of Thrones, and that casting is well under way, a start date for filming in Ireland is set, and if the show gets picked up (as seems probable at this point, given the investment they're ( Read more... )

I've not read GRRM's books yet (picked up the first one, but it's in my TBR stack), so I really don't know exactly what you're discussing. But as far as casting for acting and not looks, I do agree! I really wasn't sure going into the x-men movies that Hugh Jackman was 'right' for Wolverine, because he certainly doesn't look like Wolverine in the comics! But I went into the movie open minded and, OMG, loved him. He's totally right for the part, imo. So, anyway, that's a yes for acting over looks alone. ^__^

Yeah! I remember when they cast Michael Keaton for the first Batman, and he was only known as a comic actor (at least to me) at that point, and I was like "wtf? noooo!" And he totally nailed it. One of the most under-rated acting performances ever, better than Jack's Joker in the same movie. Still the best of the cinematic Bats, imo.
