I'm really running out of shit I can do while in bed, here.

Ha. "Invisible Disability Bingo Card". Reminds me of "Stupid Shit People Say to Me"Seriously, if I hear one more person wishing they could "do what [I] do" and "stay in bed all day", I might start throwing things. I haven't been to work in almost three weeks now. Is anyone actually stupid enough to think that I'm just lazing around because it's fun ( Read more... )

my genetic stock, i am really broken, adventures in neuroticism, lady parts (not as fun as you'd hope)

I don't laugh. I promise. Because it sucks, and it's not fucking funny.

But yes. Fine and coping are totally like the same thing! Totally! Except that people don't usually run out of fine. So I hope this doesn't make you run out of coping. Sometimes dd_b peers at me worriedly and modifies the punchline to the Pig With the Wooden Leg joke: "Don't want to use a good Mris like that up all at once." And I feel like that here, too ( ... )

Mmn. It's various people at various times, as unthinking off-hand jokes that they mean very well with. Or in some cases it's stuff they've said that they have since learned is inappropriate just by observing and learning, so I didn't actually have to have it out with them, and for that I am grateful. The one idiot who refused to learn and liked to be loudly abusive and guilt-trippy whenever I called him on it, I got rid of. (Quietly, thank god, which is better than how I thought it'd go, judging by previous history with him. And hey, I got DWAGII2 out of it, so in a funny karmic way, I consider us square.) ...Or it's my mom, come to think of it, which is like playing a game of Russian Roulette where the bullet is sanity and the chances of it coming out of her mouth are a lot crappier than 1/6, and you just kind of have to twitch and move on and try not to take it personally ( ... )

On the topic of TV that is awesome, or reasonably so: Have you seen The Wire? How about The West Wing? Spartcus: Blood And Sand (and also Boobies and Tons Of Crack For The Writers)?

I tried the Wire (at mrissa's, in fact) and just couldn't get into it. Am up to date on Spartacus: Overwrought Violence And Fucking. Have not yet tried The West Wing, though I hear that should be considered a crime. I'm totally game to try TWW, but don't want to do quite that much downloading if I don't have to. D'you happen to have it all stashed somewhere? :D

When you grow up the way I did, your develop a tolerance for slogging through daily crap. ;)

Do you happen to have any cabana boys you could stand to part with?

I could put my BF in board shorts and send him over. But I'm not sure he'd appreciate that.

If you're going to be paying airfare from Missoula anyway, you should just come up instead!

Would you like someone (ie, me and Frances) to come over with a hot cooked dinner some night?

(Also, I have a crazy-assed giant wireless access point that is, as of yesterday, a spare. Want to plug it into your place and see how many of those walls we can punch through?)

Um. Gosh. That is a really lovely kindness, and even if it doesn't turn out to be feasible, I genuinely appreciate the offer. Thank you. I would happily accept whatever kind of deliciousness you wanted to foist off on me! You know I'm always oohing and ahhing over the recipes you link me to. My only request is that it not contain fish, seafood, mushrooms, olives, a lot of dairy, or very much hot spice. (As much as I love hot stuff, sometimes it can really wreck me, and I don't need any more wrecking just now. Bah humbug.)

I was thinking "chipotle roast pork with asparagus and rice", but I also have a lovely "mediterranean" lemon garlic pork roast ready to go. It's not COMPLICATED food, but it's tasty and good.

Would you rather we cook it then bring it along in tupperware and a couple of insulated bags, or should I plan to just bring the ingredients and my steamer and occupy your kitchen for ~40 minutes?

I should probably take this to email.

Ah, the slow erosion of standards. "My uterus is basically a sieve through which I am straining my entire blood supply, but I can still Twitter. SO I'M FINE."

Any word on the whole chemical menopause thing? That sounded promising. In a "nuke it from orbit" sort of way.

No, nothing yet. I called the Riverside yesterday morning like I was told to, and they said they'd call me back with an appointment time. They have not yet done so. I'm not sure how long to give them before I call back again. Sigh!

That was the decision I already came to, actually. I'm just waiting until they open at 9. ;)
