I don't remember that, so I will say here what I expect I would have said then: Plenty of things work for people who aren't me and for reasons other than personal taste. Take Twilight, for instance; sometimes other people just don't care. But that doesn't make the result good quality, either, and it's not like I'm some crazy extremist with my expectation that things make a certain amount of sense. :)
I remember recently in D&D, the PCs finally got to meet the Strigoi - merciless warrior-women of the north, who strode into battle in woad and leather skirts made from the faces of their enemies.
And then the game screeched to a halt while you and Emily explained to me in no uncertain terms that no intelligent woman would fight bare-chested because of the counterweight problems involved. The Strigoi were instantly retconned into merciless warrior-women who strode into battle in leather skirts and supportive sports bras made from the faces of their enemies.
