I've heard tell that he audio-recorded the last book, so that it could be finished by someone else? Might have dreamt that though.

Actually his wife has edited his last few books so chances are she'll finish it off. You know...after the grieveing.

Here's the problem..when he came down with the disease that killed him he started rushing to tie up storylines...I get the impression that this series was supposed to last another 5-7 books...I'm glad that'll we'll get closer...I'm just curious what would have come.

And don't feel bad Moogley...Cortney has said for years that he would die before the series was finished...sure as shit she was right.

Well, that's good. Really, I had little doubt as to whether the last book would get published, it's just whether it would have the same sort of spirit as the rest of his books. But if she edited the last few, there's definitely a better chance. The thing that makes me cynical is all the Middle Earth books that were 'edited' by Tolkien's son. Most of them were never actually meant to be published, compiled from notes and such that he left behind and they just don't read right to me. The Silmarillion's the biggest case in point. But it's definitely not the same thing
