I have already seen it twice! I went with one of my best friends, and Star Trek is one of the few things in life he takes seriously enough to argue about. As far as he's concerned, he can't fully like this one until there's a sequel, because the alternative-timeline business is far too much to do for only a single film, and if it's left at this, it's essentially JJ Abrams piss-taking the entire Trek mythos.
Again, this is a man who's reaction to almost everything else is 'meh'. But Star Trek, this he cares about.
Man, I want to go see it again! And I can kind of see where your friend is coming from ... To be honest, I don't see how they can not do more. It's pretty much expected at this point. Yet, it's going to be very, very tricky, I think. If they don't rock it, it's going to go very badly for them, because they really set the bar high with this.
Time will tell, I guess. The question is, will there be any sort of TV expansion, or are they just going to rely on the movie franchise ...
Yeah, I saw it twice in opening weekend. But my friend paid for the first showing, because she was desperate to see it, and couldn't wait until the planned group outing the next day. Which she went to as well.
I presume they're all signed up for a sequel? Isn't that pretty much standard procedure for anything franchisey? Though I don't think they could do a tv series with this cast, I doubt most of them would want to get tied to a series at this point.
I'm trying to collect as many awesomesauce Trek icons as I can, but unfortunately, I only have 110 iconspace DDD: LJ, WHY DO YOU NOT WANT ME TO OBSESS OVER MY FANDOMS?
Trust me my friend, speaking as one with a permanent account and therefore the max allowed number of icons, no matter how many they let you have, you will always, always be wanting more. ;____;
Man, I could use a few Trek icons. New, old school ... maybe even a Picard or two. :D
