[there's a small sort of gurgling noise]

This is Shanti Claire Suresh. She's my new baby sister. I think. Want to say hi, Shanti?

[another happy gurgle and Molly's voice drops into a conspiratorial whisper]

...I think the gurgling means hi.I don't think I've posted here in a long time. We were mostly busy with the baby, but I miss talking to ( Read more... )

...And it wasn't a good curse?

I think it'll be fun to play with her once she gets old enough to crawl. But sometimes I get to hold her. I'm careful.

Do you have a brother?

Were they colored paperclips?

I will! She likes being in my lap. I think. She can't talk so I don't know if she likes it, but she usually makes a gurgly noise when she's happy.

Oh. Me too. Before Shanti, I mean. It gets a little lonely sometimes.

I don't think there's much fun to be had with a curse.

Enjoy the gurgling babbling while it lasts. Younger siblings tend to become hellish once they start to get older.

But some of them are better than others, right? And then some of them are completely horrible.

Do you have one?

I'd like to believe that they're all bad.

A younger brother who was always doing something stupid.

There was one that let me see my dad. That was a good one for me, but it wasn't so nice for other people. I guess it depends.

Was? Oh.

There was a curse once that let you talk to a part of your soul- that was probably the best one I can think of off the top of my head.

A part of your soul? How did it do that?

I couldn't tell you how, but everyone affected had an animal associate that could speak to them for the day. Apparently the type of animal reflected the person, but it was interesting nonetheless.

Oh. What was yours?

[pause as she realizes that it's a pretty personal question]

You don't have to answer that if you don't want to.

I'm sitting down so I can't drop her. I'm being careful.

Can we watch it? I think we might have to do it in secret, though.

I liked the one that let me see Matt again.

Because her neck isn't strong enough to hold itself up, right?

Was he dancing with you?

I wish you and Mohinder could have seen him. Did you see your dad?

And in your lifetime your heart will have pumped enough blood to fill around a million bathtubs.

Maybe you just don't sing that well yet.

Except we don't have a million bathtubs of blood.

I don't think I'll be able to sing that well ever.

That's right, an adult has around ten pints of blood, going round in circles.

And you never know. Your vocal chords won't mature for a few years yet, and that brings a few changes with it. You meet a lot of choir kids who can't sing for toffee once they're all grown up.

And one side pumps to the lungs and one side pumps to everything else. This book is really interesting.

But if you're not good in the first place, can it make you good?

...Were you a choir kid?
