Okay, let me talk about Crackdown, and also a bit about Skycraze. Two original femme characters from
Ultharkitty and me for the Dysfunction AU.
I love them.
The development of Skycraze was kind of like “I need an OC, no matter male or female, that’s only mentioned in a brief scene in another fic (not yet completely written) that Vortex mentions and Blast Off is kinda annoyed about.”
And that’s how Skycraze was born. Fics followed (
Personnel,
Testing Ground and
Assessment) - none of which is the fic I intended her for - and her character developed further.
We decided that she’s only into femmes and has an exclusive and loving femme partner. So Skycraze needed a femme partner. In blue, because Vortex had mentioned her partner to be a blue semitruck in Assessment. I don’t have a problem with that, I like blue. :p
We made Crackdown a triple changer in the end. Her alt-modes are a semi truck and a driller. I imagine her to be a mix between Ultra Magnus and Twin Twist, and without any “boob plates” and those things.
She worked in mining for ages on colonies and asteroids. I see her to have been quite bored by the work, because she’s intelligent and the mining work didn’t have that much to offer.
She was on a colony for a very long time, and had good contacts to the local aliens. I can’t imagine her to be xenophobe if she lived all her life on other planets with different inhabitants on them and being intelligent as she is.
Eventually, the company closed the mine there and they all were fired.
They were granted a free transport to Cybertron if they chose to go there, or could stay at the colony. She isn’t very keen on space travel, but Crackdown decided to go to Cybertron.
She hadn’t been there very long in her life, and wanted to get to know her homeworld better. Being on Cybertron, she worked in different mines and did some freelance transports for a while before she settled in Polyhex. She works in constructions now, and helps building apartment complexes in Polyhex.
It’s a working class city, and she likes it.
She lives with Skycraze in their little home, which is quite comfortable and one of the better places there. She got the chance to buy the place from her company for a cheaper price than other people would have to pay. It’s a small bungalow like place on a street that leads up a larger hill, and half of it is underground.
Crackdown has no problems with what her partner does. She sometimes even has to help Skycraze getting rid of certain “things” with her ability to drill deep and large holes.
Both of them aren’t sociopathic or psychopathic (unlike some other people.). For Skycraze it’s just a job which she can do well because she was in the military, and Crackdown helps her because it’s her.
They love each other deeply, and have a happy relationship. Crackdown cares for Skycraze, and would go through hell for her.
Crackdown knows that Skycraze looks at other femmes now and then, and flirts too, but she doesn’t have to be worried. They’re faithful, and would never cheat on each other. When Skycraze actually looked and flirted with someone else, she’s more caring towards Crackdown afterwards as though she feels guilty.
In contrast to Skycraze, Crackdown isn’t hot-tempered. She’s calm and thoughtful and likes to believe in the good in people. She can be forceful and rigorous if necessary, and hates it to be made fun of. She’s also not above using calculated violence if the situation calls for it.
While Crackdown isn’t very fond of the caste system, she doesn’t judge people on their caste or where they were built. It’s only important for her to get along with them. If she doesn’t, she avoids them to avoid trouble as well since she has her heart on her tongue.
I really enjoyed writing them in
Running into Ghosts. It’s a nice change to write a healthy relationship for once. They’re also very different to write in contrast to Blast Off and Vortex, because they have an emotional basis and are capable of caring. And they don’t see caring or loving as a disadvantage or weakness.
I’m not saying that for example Blast Off does, but he has no relation to that emotion at all.
Skycraze and Crackdown are very interesting, and I really hope I can write more with them. I plan to write another fic with Skycraze and yet another femme OC for the Dysfunction AU one day, and some other things with them.
I’m not sure how Onslaught and Crackdown would get along, but this might be an idea to explore eventually. I can’t see her deciding to work for him, though.
(And I have no idea if this is really meta. I just felt I needed write something about them. *lol*)
