A Really Quick WTF?

Why are we entering, now of all times, into ANOTHER cold war with Russia? I mean, that's what it looks like it's winding up to be. Am I wrong?

news, pointless posts, politics, signs of the apocalypse

Putin is a scary, scary guy who is doing his best to turn his country into a superpower again, as opposed to the starvation-ridden country with a collapsing (waaay worse than ours) currency it was ten years ago. He sees that our country is having problems and already stretched militarily, and is trying to take advantage of that weakness. Last year, he saw that the EU was having gas shortages and held the natural gas supply over the EU's head for his political purposes... He's just generally a bad guy, and Bush and he have been in a big pissing contest since Bush came into office. ;)

Oh, I see that. Putin is fairly awful and I can completely see his vision of using Russia's military might to force his country into a decent economy (nothing bolsters economy like pumping money into military industries). It just scares me, having grown up in the first Cold War, and living with the constant fear of nuclear annihilation hanging in the background ... I really hate the idea of living like that again.

Eh, nuclear war would hurt everyone, Russia included. I highly doubt that'd happen. Regular war would be much more likely. :P
