We used to get possums in our storage shed back home in Umatilla. I remember many encounters in which a cornered possum would be baring its teeth at me while I tried to dislodge it from the shed with a garden hoe. Good times.

the second i typed "possums", i knew the word "umatilla" would follow in the comments. glad to know you didn't get rabies from your curly-tailed friend...

A possum!?! In broad daylight?

yes. the owner didn't believe me until she looked out the window and saw a mangy thing walking towards the house on little pink feet. it was like being in a horror movie.

Hey, did you watch last week's Angel? Andrew was wearing a Strongbad t-shirt.

I don't think I've ever seen a possum in the daylight before. Not even skulking about in the shadows! Ker-azy! Glad nothing untoward happened!

naturally, it was the large, jumpy boxer that saw the possum. not the prancy dalmatian. whew!

i've seen five minutes of one episode of angel. thanks to my livejournal friends list, though, i feel like one of the most faithful viewers.

But what about the possum?! We actually had one in the house a few weeks ago. It came in through the doggy door. I was asleep at the time (it was around 3 in the morning), but Badger was awake and promptly trapped and removed it from the area.

We had possums under the shed in our last backyard. The dog would sit beside the shed and either growl or whine (depending on how playful he was). He cornered them on the fence regularly. They'd hiss at us, beady little eyes and bared teeth all a-glitter in the flashlight's ethereal beam. He got hold of one once. Thank goodness they play dead rather than viciously counterattack; our dog is a 25-pound dog, and one of the possums (probably mother) was really quite big.

one of the dogs i walk abhors anything on four legs. naturally, i was walking this dog when i saw the varmint. i think he would have tried to viciously kill it if given the chance, and i think it might have killed him first. (and this dog is heavier than lard-assed me, so...)
