[His breath catches in his throat as he spies the feed.] ...momma? [It's automatic, quiet. He can't stop himself. He doesn't even stop to check if the feed's real. Not at the minute. He hasn't checked his monkey paw, but he has a feeling if he did, it would have another finger missing. Not that it does

Guilt gnawed at him. I did this. It seemed almost a sureity. After all, the wishes turned south, and she was here. But horribly burnt. He supposed he didn't need to say the wish out loud which means we're pretty screwed because the djinn knew all those years ago. It wasn't like it was a wish, a need that had magically disappeared.

He wasted no time getting there. His mind raced at fifty miles a minute. She'd blacked out, so he checked she was still breathing. He bit his lip hard as he picked her up gently, trying not to hurt her more, ignoring how his throat constricted at the sight of the blood, hos his stomach flip-flopped at the smell of the burnt hair.] You're okay, I've got you. [He whispered the comfort, not even knowing if she ( ... )

[She didn't hear the momma comment and it was probably for the best. With how confusing things were at the moment, the last thing she needed, was to try to figure out how she had a fully grown son. At least until she was given some sort of pain killer.

Her breathing was slow and labored when he arrived, but still present. In her current state, she wasn't even aware that help had arrived...but when she felt arms, she knew that they were there to help her. Someone who was out to hurt her wouldn't be as gentle as they were trying to be, no matter how gentle they were, it still hurt. She couldn't express it though, couldn't even bring herself to thank them...she just felt so distant from her body. His voice though, it was somewhat familiar to her. John? It had to be...he was trying so hard not to hurt her, he had to be familiar with her.

Secure in the knowledge that she was in good hands, she let the darkness take her and give her some reprieve from the pain.]

[with her blacked out, but in his arms, he could at least feel her breathing. It didn't stop his panic though. When he got her to the hosiptal, she was taken to be given pain medicine and to be worked on ( ... )

[She wasn't aware of much, even when she was handed off, it didn't seem to register in her mind.

It would be some time before she would actually register that she was in a bed. It was far from the most comfortable, but with how she felt, every bed would be uncomfortable. Slowly, she became more aware of her surroundings. Even with the haze she felt from the anesthesia, she could still feel the burns, the agony of seared flesh. Blinking back the welling tears, Mary slowly glanced around the room; it didn't take a genius to recognize that she was in a hospital. ...Or that she wasn't alone. Staring at the man in the room with her, she relaxed back into the pillows as best she could.]

...Thank you...

[Even if she was in pain, he didn't have to help her. Much less stay with her...and judging from the bandages she could feel, she'd been here for some time.]

[He doesn't even waste time with the comms. Sam is about as settled in as he can get and he's tired of trying to sleep when he obviously can't. The moment he sees the woman in distress, he takes off at a dead run for the fountain.]

Hey, it's all right. You're gonna be okay. [Off goes his jacket, wrapping it gingerly around her shoulders before lifting her in his arms.] It's not far to the hospital. Just hang on, okay? What's your name?

[She doesn't even acknowledge that she's not alone, not until she feels a jacket settle on her shoulders. Flinching at the contact, Mary can't stop a short cry of pain as she's lifted. Biting her lip, she tries to move away from the touch...until she realizes that moving is just making the pain worse.

He's just trying to help, she knows that, but it's simply human nature to want to avoid pain. ...Wait...He's talking? Leaning her head on his shoulder, she struggled to focus on his words.]

...M...Mary...

Mary? I'm Sam. Now hold on, okay? I know it hurts and I'm sorry, but I have to get you someplace safe. Lie still if you can. [She looks vaguely familiar, but Sam pushes that thought out of his mind and focuses on getting her to the hospital and to someone who could treat her wounds.]

...There's nowhere that's safe...

[Home was supposed to be safe...but it obviously wasn't. Not anymore.

Besides, lying still was a good plan in theory, but it was hard not to squirm when wounds were touched or brushed. Gripping his jacket tightly, She tries to think of anything but where she is...and the only thing she can do is worry about if John got the kids out.]
