“Tell me, is it a Gotham thing? Brooding on rooftops?” Dinah asked from the door where she was standing. It was too cold and too late for someone to be out here, especially alone. Barbara didn’t look at her; she continued to stare at Gotham’s towers. “Talk to me girlfriend.”

“About what?” Barbara asked and Dinah fought the urge to roll her eyes. She was losing her patience with the redhead. Ever since the Joker… Barbara wasn’t her usual self and Dinah was beyond worry. She even left Ollie alone this weekend (not that they didn’t need some alone time) and for what?

“You know what about, Babs!” This time she wasn’t going to back down. She would make Barbara talk even if she had to, well, not beat her of course, maybe she could threaten to break all the computers in the house? Yeah, that sounded better.

“You know, after the Joker shot me, for about a month or two, all I wanted was to fly again.” Okay, Barbara was talking, not for what Dinah hopped for, but she was talking. “I used to sit on a rooftop, and look down and I remember thinking that it wouldn’t be so bad.”

Dinah swallowed hard; she didn’t like the way this conversation was going. “Babs?”

“I mean, at least I would die doing something I really liked, you know? I loved to fly Dinah, so much.”

“Let’s go inside honey, okay? It’s getting cold,” and I don’t think I can hear more.

Finally Barbara looked at her. “That was a long time ago, Dinah. I don’t feel the same anymore.” She wheeled towards Dinah.

Yeah, talking about the understatement of the century. “That’s good to know,” Dinah held the door open for Barbara.

“Now I feel like I already hit the ground.”
