adventures in a Chinese hospital, part two!

Hurray, I have proper internet at home again and I can access LJ!

So on Sunday morning, I discovered that I had this odd sort of sore lump in my abdomen, between my rib cage and my belly button. Naturally, I panicked. I didn't have enough time to go to the hospital that day to get it checked out, so I went yesterday.

Shanghai hospitals are better (still with the shiny equipment in decrepit rooms, but everything is clean and they put curtains around you if you're on a drip or something). In Montreal if you'd gone to the emergency for something like that you'd've waited all day. >_>

(One of my co-workers fell in a construction pit a week ago and broke both his arms. He took a taxi to the emergency room and waited fifteen hours before they so much as gave him a painkiller.)

Yeah, that's sort of shitty. I was in the hospital for close to seven hours after I had a violent reaction to Tylenol 3, and I ended up signing myself out at 7 in the morning to see my own doctor. Fucking public health care, dude. XDXDXD

That's slightly worse than what happened to me here a couple of years ago (allergic reaction to sulfa)--3 hour wait, would have been longer if my boss who is an EMT hadn't brought me in. Arrrrgh why does crap always have to happen to me AFTER EIGHT PM? Anyway.

Yuuuuck. At least you're OK. Hopefully you won't have any more Chinese Medical Funtime.

Then the whole family helped the doctor wrap the cast around her leg.

Oh my gosh. *face-palm, rolls*

Am glad to hear you're okay! ♥
