Marines prohibit social networking sites for one year

due to security concerns regarding sensitive information being released over social networks, the Marines have banned these types of sites for up to one year.

I can't tell from the article... does this mean, that in their spare time (ie, not while at work), Marines won't be able to access their networking sites? Or is it only if they're using a connection their base is using?

It's only from Marine Network computers.

Hmm. I wonder if this is why they took the internet out of the lounge. Jon doesn't pay for internet so he used to just go down to the lounge with his laptop because it was free wireless, but he said that it's not there anymore.

The computer in Jon's shop has always had Myspace and Facebook blocked, but I was able to get on LJ when I was there. Jon and I always joke about how they probably stored my password and read through my LJ for shits and giggles. :p
