Ch-- called out, "You okay little one?" as we passed. Seriously. My nine year old called a 5-6 year old 'little one'.
It is interesting what terms kids use, and how they pick them up from us. In my family, my 16 yo daughter is very close to me. Then my 12 yo son, and 11 and 8 yo daughters are very close to each other. I don't spend as much time with them as I do with my other children as they are so closely bonded and seem to meet each others needs very well.
My youngest, Lia who is 7, is a different story though. She really doesn't fit in with my middle kids and spends most of her time with my oldest (Emma) and myself. The funny thing is that she tends to refer to the middle kids as *the kids*...as if she is much older than them.
