Separate notebooks and folders in unique colors for each subject does help - a LOT. Just be VERY careful not to cross-contaminate. No saying, "Oh I can't find the blue notebook so I'll use this yellow one instead, just this once." That NEVER ends well, trust me.

Oh, by the way, my roommate was rescuing worms from the gutters, not racing things as far as I know.
