I believe we heard the same insanely loud thunder crack. I saw a massive flash, had just enough time to turn my head to the window, and then KABOOM! I do not scream as you probably know, but it certainly got a loud "WHOA!" out of me and a slight jump. I also had the amusement of watching my aunt and uncle leap to their living room window to see what the hell happened.

I forgot to tell you that Sister D-- told me her version of this story the next day. She says that she DID scream. Apparently, the lightning hit a tree in the neighbors yard. (Near the church.) This same woman had a strike last year too! Sister D-- said the tree exploded.
