That's the trouble with so many G&T programs; kids are supposed to finish all their work *plus* the extra G&T work that's assigned. It's stupid. It's like punishing the kids for being smarter. "Here, you're smarter, so you can do twice as much homework as the other kids." And making him test out of every unit is just demoralizing. It's like they don't trust him. It's a very punitive program.
It really sounds like they're annoyed at the fact that they have to do extra work to teach him. :/
Ayup. It was something of a shock to realize that they really do see this as a problem rather than a blessing. I know I've been trying to brace myself for that attitude but I think I was still hoping to be pleasantly surprised.
When was the testing for your girl? I don't want my stuff to be discouraging for you. A bit of advice -- get hooked up with your statewide organization for G&T as soon as possible.
