Many magazines like Men's Fitness, Rolling Stone, and GQ feature shirtless men on their covers, but when androgynous male model Andrej Pejic appeared on the new cover of Dossier bookstores like Barnes & Noble and Borders banned the magazine unless it was housed in an opaque plastic sleeve like a porno mag.

It's not a bad cover, but I could also understand how some customers would think the photo is of a naked anorexic woman.

incredible how the human form can still be seen as so provocative. the cover is very beautiful -- a pity the world seems unworthy of it.

There's no point in fuming about this particular chain of events: these precautions reflect the condition, tastes, and intelligence of American consumers at large. Get angry at them.

Neither Barnes and Noble nor Borders are stupid; it's the people who shop there.

In this case the model does not have breasts so Barnes And Noble is banning the appearance of what is not there. If they think the image is confusing as presented, should the model wear a bra? Pasties?

The requirement is for females to cover the only part of the breast that is identical to those of males -- the nipples. In the past I have always considered this to be an unfair dichotomy in the depiction of men and women. If nipples are nipples, they should be covered for both genders. Why should a flat-chested woman wear a bra while a man with well-developed pecs goes bare?

All Barnes And Noble has done is prove that their standards are based on priggish prudery without substance.
