It is my informed opinion that we should invest in new research, while replacing our coal plants with nuclear ones. We've been running on combustion power for how many hundred years? (Actually, according to wiki, about 2 thousand.)

It's time to move on.

Yeah - room temperature superconductors would be a good start :)

Nuclear & renewable is the way forward. Less of all that stuff you mention above, has to be good.
