absofrigginlutely. i know exactly what you mean. i'm a pretty big fantasy/sci-fi buff, i've been reading fantasy since i was little, and things like star wars have always played a big part in my entertainment/fanaticism. :) and growing up with bible stories and stuff, they never seemed very exciting. church was never exciting.
but now that i'm older and found my own love for the gospel...i realized these stories are just as, if not more, exciting. the story of king david is as tempestuous and heart-breaking and epic as, say, darth vader, or other such characters. captain moroni has always, but especially lately, caught on to one of my heart strings.
the scriptures are full of the most amazing stories we have. i think what makes them even more amazing is that they're true... not that some of the other non-gospel stories aren't, but when you put the events of the bible and book of mormon in perspective with the rest of our beautiful religion and the plan in its entirety... wow. :)
I read his first Rama book, but it was so long ago, and didn't grab me like some of Clarke's other work, so I s'pose I didn't continue. Maybe I'll have to do that now.
ALl 4 rock... the next 3 aren't about the same people that visited Rama I. As Rama II visits many many years later... however the last 3 books follow the same people. Fun stuff... they really get good, and LOTS of religious stuff hidden in there.
