Five years!

It's hard to believe it's been five years already since David's death. In some ways it seems like yesterday. It's still painful, but we've learned to live with the pain fairly well. This is the first year we didn't go away. Yesterday we worked on a Habitat for Humanity house. Today we took the dog and went for a hike in the foothills. July 1 ( Read more... )

Not sure how I stumbled across David's journal. Your words are oddly comforting - knowing that you did get through it to this point and you continue to reach out and remind others about listening to the pain inside...

No parent should have to go through what you did. Even after all this time, David's life and death continue to affect others. I hope that sharing what you've shared over the years in his journal has helped you grieve and heal.

So sorry for your loss Mary Wylie.

That's ok. You're entitled to your opinion. I'm entitled to mine. It gives me some comfort to believe that David is at peace and knows that we love him and miss him.

Updating David's LJ mockery February 4 2008, 04:43:55 UTC
Hi, Ciaran. Thanks for writing. It encourages me to continue posting every now and again when there's evidence someone has actually visited the site.

It is my hope that by keeping David's LJ somewhat updated that it might help someone. I share David's website with mental health therapists and researchers when I can. I spend many hours working for the Second Wind Fund (which pays for mental health counseling for youth at-risk for suicide in the Denver area) trying to keep other families from going where mine has.

I do believe in mental health therapy and made sure that my family went at least once. Three of us went regularly for several months. I still participate in occasional suicide survivor support groups.

I always encourage individuals that if they don't bond with their therapist that they try another therapist. You might try someone else as well. If you happen to be in the Denver area, the Second Wind Fund's website (www.thesecondwindfund.org) has therapist info listed under Counselors Corner.

Take care,
Mary

I stumbled across this page, and I am moved by all these entries. Although it's been thirteen years since you have posted, I hope you are continuing to do well. Much love.
