I have now been home for a whole week after consecutive weekends in two distant states trying to sell books during an economic panic. Interestingly enough, people are still buying out of print books with some enthusiasm...possibly because you actually have something to hold in your hands when the money has melted away.

Re 1) Oh dear. :-) I actually did that the other day with cowboy boots (one Tony Lama black, one Justin brown-and-black) but luckily caught it before I went outside. Drat that dressing in a dimly lit room. ;-)

2) Soft serve ice cream at Dairy Queen! How v. Tinaja-inspiring. [beam]

I am v. happy indeed that I have no flights planned in the foreseeable future. Happy holiday!

I couldn't stop gloating that I could bring back two check-in bags coming back from Mexico, thanks to having bought our tickets last March. My second "suitcase" was a $4 mesh bag I bought at the Tuesday market. And we were shocked to get not just peanuts but sandwiches on the evening flight down. Continental Airlines.

Yeah, when we went to Paris in October, Air France was very classy with actual meals and free champagne and free wine and no fees for luggage (of course, no leg room either, but you can't have everything).

Happily, I'd booked this trip back in the summer so we each got our first suitcases at no charge and the second which we filled with books up to the weight limit was $25 instead of the new standard of $15 for the first and $50 for the second. And then they keep telling you you should check your bags due to overfull cabins. Bah, humbug.

Your line of work sounds pretty challenging at the moment--glad you've got some down time. Unbelievable about United. Something Must Be Done. And did you see the news about so many airline baggage weights being vastly overestimated, forcing people to pay a hella lot of money for no reason? (Or face repacking right there in the airport)? Unreal.

Yes, we had a lovely flurry of activity repacking at the Houston airport (Bush, not Hobby). They wanted to charge us $150 for an overweight suitcase. Instead, we checked our largest carry-on for $25 and I unpacked my spare tote bag to use for the extra books and metal display racks. Travel is so broadening...

On the upside, I finally got to taste a real Bellini in Boston, which was a lovely way to get a bubbly fix and a little wholesome fruit juice all at once!
