A Walk in the Park

Photos from the other day, sans creep.

When you first enter the big park, a hill covered in towering pines greets you.  In the grass to the left of the wide path of concrete-made-to-look-like-stone-paving, sprout circles of stumps, waiting to welcome the weary or those who want to sit for a chat.

The long light in that first picture is so beautiful! And the second picture made me shiver, because the city, across the water, looks so ghostly and ominous.

It does look ominous. And if you examine the pilings of that bizarre pier, you'll see that some of them are cracked clean through and are just being held together by the steel rebars. Brave--or unwitting--young boy...

Yeah, I sorely wanted to work at getting a better shot, but S was in her stroller, and there was a steep hill just in front of me. :(

I stared and stared at the second photo, trying to determine if it really was a photo. The darkness and composition, plus the diminishing detail in the distance, tempted me to believe it was a painting. It's darkly beautiful, and I like it very much.
