Do no evil? Another google conspiracy.

Attention all flat earthers and other assorted free-thinkers. Fallenicarus and I have discovered a world changing conspiracy. However, all will be well.

Here's what happened.

[2007.11.26.1700] This humble authors attempts to compute tanh(1000)

It fails...

This, oh so humble, author assumed hyperbolic trig functions aren't included in the Read more... )

i had an exciting argument recently regarding 0.9 repeating. results are still inconclusive.

i think i would get more out of your discovery if i knew what tanh was /sob

hey kids! it's research time! *zing*

tanh = hyperbolic tangent

From what I remember

1. It shows up as the solution of various differential equations. In this case, it shows up as a solution for the dispersal of oceanic waves.

2. It is used as the response function in various neural network / cognitive model type things: i.e. For some simulated organism, if tanh(weight*stimulus) > 0.5 then assume stimulus is strong enough that organism responds

{the more you know}
