Happy Monday! :D Once again, I'm a day late and a dollar short with these promo shot ficlets, but a brief sweep of Tumblr revealed I'm hopefully not duplicating efforts. Oh that was so lovely! Loved the development of their relationship told through the words "yes" and "fiancee" and "wife". And of course turning it on its head at the end with Mary's "husband". I wanted to write something for this scene but couldn't think of anything so I'm so glad you did. :)

Wonderful stuff! So much to love in such a short fic! I could actually hear Michelle Dockery's voice say: “So, we’re to be one of those couples?” And Matthew's imagined Violet comment: "You don’t expect me to congratulate you for doing exactly as I said in the first place,” made me giggle hysterically--something fanfic rarely accomplishes. Lavinia's response to Matthew's proposal is EXACTLY how I imagined. You've definitely nailed Downton dialogue and characterization.

I also love the transition from Matthew pondering why the title 'fiancee' never fit Mary to his certainty and joy at calling her his wife. Makes me all gooey & warm inside. :D
