I am so glad that I wandered over to LJ to see if there was anything new that hadn't appeared on fanfic. I was rewarded with this ficlet. *sighs* The physicality is so sensual and seductive but with humor to pull us back to earth (the brim of her hat - I love the image). Your insight into Mary rings so true and it absolutely feels right that it would not be easy for her to say these words to Matthew when he can actually hear her. And Matthew is patiently and gently drawing the words out of her. This is a whole new meaning for seductive. A plea - post this on fanfic so I can favorite it and not lose it.
