THIS is what I want to scream from the mountaintops anytime I hear some liberal bitching about the so-called "loss of civil liberties," or waterboarding, or domestic surveillance. If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to worry about!!!!!!!
the fact that I would have nothing to hide has nothing to do with my right to privacy. You're honestly going to tell me that you prefer having a police force spying on you?
1. I certainly think the government has better things to do than spy on me.
2. If even ONE terror attack, murder, detonation, threat, hostage situation, drug deal, or illegal entry into the USA is PREVENTED by surveillance of a simple phone call, I am ONE THOUSAND PERCENT in favor of it.
Can you honestly tell me you'd rather see a loved one DIE than have the FBI listen in on a telephone conversation? The liberal mind is beyond kooky.
This was the biggest fucking debate in my government class last semester. "Mrs. Luce, if you have NOTHING TO HIDE, then what's the BIG DEAL?" She is a really sweet woman but moments were really tense when I challenged her left ideas. I stressed over and over that I felt it was our civil duty to sacrifice a little bit of privacy for the sake of the safety of our nation as a whole. We are not talking about people who are watching your thoughts, and perscuting you for having them- this is about stopping terrorists from fucking up more shit. And I have to say, - I don't mean to sound like a pretentious bitch but it's only because we're reading it in my ap lit class...
I believe that they is a great paranoia that the left is feeling of 1984 coming true in the future for the US of our 21st century. I'm planning on writing an essay on the relevance 1984 has from a republican lens.
Seriously, I drew the same "1984" comparison. Just what are all these lefties afraid of? That the government will punish them for their wacko socialist ideas? Oh please! If that were true, then Ron Paul would have been executed in Guantanamo Bay months ago.
You're exactly right: If you have nothing to hide, you have NOTHING to worry about. Where in the Constitution does it guarantee life, liberty, and the right to live in a cave like a hermit?
How does ANYBODY in the Internet age really think there's such a thing as privacy anymore? The government is the LEAST of your worries, conspiracy theorists of the world... look at all the information Google and Yahoo and Microsoft and the credit card companies have on you!!
I think both sides have a reason to fear for 1984 coming true. Left: rights to privacy Right: Globalization to the most extreme extent- we all become the same. Human race= fuucked.
