Greetings, residents of Luceti. I am called Cheyenne, and there is something I wish to ask of you all.

By tomorrow, it will have been a month since my arrival in Luceti. I have, for the most part, remained unseen. I would have continued such a manner of living for the benefit of others here, but circumstances make such a lifestyle impossible for a ( Read more... )

Was my wording so unclear that I was unable to be understood?

No, milady; but....there's folks here what won't be happy with one who eats souls. Why not rum? It's almost the same thing, I'll wager.

I am already prepared for the fact that admitting I am a monster may not be in my best interests. However, seeing as death is not a permanent solution in this world, I fear there is little else I am able to do. And I do not wish to be deceitful about what I am.

...and I am afraid I do not know of this "rum" of which you speak.

There are... different parts to the soul? Like, if your an animal or person? [Give him a minute... eating souls to him seems, wrong, but you're being so open about it.]

There are four parts, actually. Length and Strength define the physical appearance of the soul itself, as well as defining traits a creature may have. Potency is the center of emotions and feelings. Power is merely stamina.

Although I'm afraid I do not understand your last question... is a human not also considered a type of animal? Certainly humans are generally more sentient, but they are all living creatures nonetheless.

A-a-hh... good point. I guess they are the same really.

So you really have no other way to eat?

I still eat regular food in the same fashion all living creatures do. However, being the creature that I am, doing so only ensures that my body does not become malnourished.

Feeding on souls is a separate need that I require, I'm afraid.

[...Oh wow it's a cute sounding girl in a pinch. Admittedly, this is a vaguely disturbing pinch, but he can't help but comment about something else right now.]

You know, Cheyenne-chan, I'm not sure that's the way for a girl to live~

I'm afraid I do not know what you mean. I am rather incapable of living any other way.

A cute girl should never remain unseen!!

[And here she thought he was talking about the whole "eating souls" aspect of her post.]

Even if the girl in question is, in fact, a monster?

This seems reasonable enough.

I have been hoping those living here would see it that way. It would be most inconvenient for myself and the villagers if I were unable to find a source from which to feed.

Well, given they are mostly human, I would not be surprised if they are uncomfortable, if not outright offended, by the idea.

To be quite honest, upon arrival I had been expecting to be chased out of town at first sight. The reactions I have seen thus far are considerably kinder than those I've dealt with in my own world.

I... I see. [Give her a moment to process this. It's terribly familiar, but to really regret having such a need to survive... Obviously this girl has a good heart.]

And feeding on that one part of the soul wouldn't have any lasting effect on the... volunteer, would it?

[Voice] mmmfilletofsoul October 8 2010, 23:05:16 UTC
No lasting effects at all. Even the immediate effects are minor and easily remedied through sleep or food.

I suppose there really isn't much harm, then... [It still seems strange, but she is here to help keep everyone in Luceti as healthy as possible. Litchi pauses for a moment.]

You said you need volunteers that are at full strength, so I'm afraid I can't help just yet. But in another week or two, I certainly wouldn't mind doing whatever I can.

I am most grateful for your offer. Please take all the time you need, as at the moment I am fortunate enough to have found a few volunteers for the coming weeks already.
