Thank you! :) The husband's was more boring -- he made me use the biggest bento container so that he could have more yakisoba. ;)

what's sichimi togarashi?

I'm learning so many new things from your journal! (Writing them all down for my next trip to the Japanese store!)

Japanese seven spice powder (black sesame seed, dried mandarin peel, roasted red pepper, fresh red pepper, sansho, poppy seed, and hemp seed)

That's so funny - I actually already buy that. I just don't think I've ever seen the name before - I buy it by the bottle colour.

I actually love that stuff so much that I asked the store manager if they sold it in larger sizes... he said he'd never seen any :(

That looks so good, especially the upper tray. I love fruit and veggies. It may not come through in MLCBUYL because I don't post photos of my "same old, same old," lunches, and I often box up raw fruit and vegetables for lunch. Besides being healthy and tasty, it's a snap to prepare!

Say, have you tried those big pickled daikon radishes, I forget what they're called?

I don't think so - how big are they? I've seen the chrysanthemums you can make, but that's probably not it...

They're big, over a foot long, and thick. I joke that they're the size of Little League baseball bats. The last time I was shopping at Tomato I bought one. I had no idea what they were like, so I decided to give it a try. And... well, it tastes like a giant pickled radish. Ugh.

Most of the things I try out of curiosity I like, but there are failures. If you ever get the chance to try natto, don't. That stuff is amazingly awful.

Ooh, a lot of fruits there! I like to put sugar on my strawberries too. ;) I usually use the raw, honey-colored sugar. Yum! Crunchy. Hehe. Must be even sweeter with the brown sugar you used! =D

It's funny that you posted yakisoba. 'Cause I was looking in my pantry for stuff to pack for lunch, and I came across some soba noodles. I thought it'd be perfect for obento! I have to try that spicy stuff...it must be really yummy on the noodles.

Another great bento post! ♥
