Priest and University (south-east corner) has a Japanese grocery store. A more general Asian grocery store is on Dobson and Southern in Mesa, next to a really awesome boba place. There's some places up in Phoenix, but I don't know where they are, as Tempe and Mesa are my stomping grounds. :)

Thanks for the tips! Do these places sell bento boxes and accessories? Or are they more like grocery stores?

I know the place on Priest sells veggie cutters and some other things, but no boxes. At least not the last time I went. The one on Dobson has a non-food section. One of the bigger bento communities has a list of places that had several for PHX, but I haven't been to any of them, as the bus ride would not be fun.

I like your blog and this recipe looks so freaking good. I assembled my chicken last night (though sadly I could not find proscuitto) and will cook it tonight.

What type of curry was that? Yellow? I tried to make a yellow curry with coconut milk like one that I had at a restraunt (masaman curry? pinnaples and cashews in it...) but it was way too spicey for me...wondering if anyone had any suggestions.

Vietnamese style a la my mom. We use madras curry powder, which is pretty mild.

I love the french bread idea. I imagine it can work with other shapes too, though I honestly have no ideas at the moment :P She does it with cooked french bread already right? And not french bread dough?

Right -- already cooked. :) Best if you do it hot out of the oven, but it still works if the bread is room temp.
