What a gorgeous box! Too big for me, though; I got into bentos in the first place as a means of portion control at lunchtime.

Still ... I have this coworker, diabetic and overweight like myself, who keeps bringing chocolates and cookies to work for everybody. If I had a nice big box like this I could trump his deluxe junk food with some marinated green beans or something. I'll have to think about that; can't bring anything drippy or expensive...

Anyway, I'm a big fan of your site. Have you read Permitted and Prohibited Desires: Mothers, Comics, and Censorship in Japan? There is an entire chapter in it about the sociology of obento.
