How big are your bento boxes usually? Are the portions large enough to fill someone up at lunch?

My bento box is about 6"x3.5"x3" As long as you pack the 'right' foods in there, it's definitely filling. Mine aren't nearly as pretty as the ones here though. And I've just started doing the bento thing this week so my foods haven't even been Japanese-style or anything ^_^

http://www.flickr.com/photos/cassandramorgan/sets/72157594223448212/ are the pictures of my bento from yesterday. (The green box is my husband's and the red one is mine.) In the top layer, I had a honey mustard pasta salad with tomatoes, carrots and onions in it. In the bottom layer, I had banana slices and Chex Sweet N' Salty Mix. In the juice container is Ocean Spray white cranberry peach juice.

We eat lunch together at noon. Neither of us got hungry again until about 4PM. Hope that helps you ^_^

Check out the Bento Boxes & Accessories section at www.cookingcute.com - it has the dimensions of all of my boxes. And yes, the portions are big enough!

That looks so delicious! I hadn't realized at first that the edamame were on skewers, I was going to ask you how you got them to stay so nice and neat. What a great idea!

Do you put lemon juice on your avocado to keep it from browning?

Yes - or lime. Avocado with a bit of lime and salt is soooo yummy.

Synchronicity strikes again! For the first time in over a year, I used some acocado, mostly in sushi.
